Tearful thanks

No matter how many times I thank Refuah Vetikvah and the wonderful people who support the organization financially, I’ll never be able to fully express my gratitude. They kept me safe when I was contemplating extreme measures, spared my wife and family certain divorce and saved my three children from growing up in a broken home. They are likewise responsible for the life and merits of our future child.

When my wife discovered the truth that I’d been hiding, she wanted out, and understandably so. But right then, as I stood vacillating on the brink, I encountered a miracle in the form of Rabbi Elyakim.

It’s only thanks to him that I’m a Torah-true Yid today, and proud of it, not just living a life in costume as I once was. I’d invested over 100,000 shekels in therapists and doctors, none of whom were able to help me for longer than brief periods of time; but then Hashem sent me the heavenly angels of Refuah Vetikvah who restored all that I’d been missing in life. Today we’re a happy family. I teach in yeshivah and my wife is employed. Tears fall from my eyes as I reflect upon the differences between the shell of the man I was several months ago and the fulfilled father, husband and person that I am today.

My parents divorced when I was 3 years old, and I hadn’t known a good day since. I grew up with my mother who was mentally unstable and insisted on taking me to funerals and other traumatic places that were entirely inappropriate for a young child.

When I finally married, things proved no better, My husband, like me, had suffered throughout the years from terrible neglect. Our marriage was a disaster from day one, and before long, I’d decided to divorce. It was the tzaddikim from Refuah Vetikvah who refused to give up on my family, and for over two years escorted us professionally and compassionately, while providing us with the generous financial support that we needed to overcome our challenges.

Today, we are still married, and though it takes arduous effort we are slowly building foundations of love, peace and harmony in our home and look forward to a better tomorrow.

When I married my wife, I didn’t dream that such disrespect and resentment could prevail in a Torah home.

My wife, who was raised in a severely-abusive home, had never witnessed anything different, and she emulated the terrible behaviors that she’d observed between her parents, carrying their animosity and hard feelings into our home. Sadly, the situation led me down the road to spiritual decline, with my only life ring being the Torah.

It was the angels at Refuah Vetikvah who stepped in to save our marriage and lives. They funded intensive marital counseling, and within 4 months, we were on the road to happiness.

Today, I’m well on the way to publishing my fourth sefer, which is replete with deep concepts and discourses that I forced myself to write during those long, lonely nights!!!

Many years ago, I became acquainted with M., the child of a highlyrespected family in our community, whose father either didn’t know or was incapable of furnishing him with genuine love.

Emotional stress was always manifest on M.’s face, and as the community rabbi, I endeavored to speak with the father and influence him to reduce his demands upon his children, to no avail.

 M. grew up to be a refined young man and devoted scholar, yet his emotional traumas grew with him… Only after he married and his wife gave birth to two children did he explode and resort to verbal and physical violence.

After several unsuccessful attempts at treatment, they were sent by Refuah Vetikvah for emotional counseling. Since then, the couple is already beginning to distinguish rays of light amidst the darkness…

My wife and I are blessed with four sweet, beautiful children. However due to mental imbalance and compulsions that I suffered for years without treatment, and my wife’s innocent, trusting nature, we fell like ripe fruit into the hands of a sadistic cult leader who feigned righteousness and professed to be our spiritual guide.

Both our money and our souls were under his complete control, until Hashem performed an open miracle for us when wonderful people from Refuah Vetikvah discovered what was going on and removed us from his clutches. Until this day, we don’t know how much money it cost and how they succeeded in this perilous, life saving mission!!!

My father committed suicide in front of my eyes when I was all of 15 years old. Despite the deep trauma I suffered, I was never allowed to speak openly of it, lest my mother fly into a rage. Today, I’m happily married with the sweetest baby girl in the world, but it wasn’t always so simple.

We suffered terrible strife in the early months of building our home, and our marriage was on the rocks. To top it off, I suffered severe PTSD.
